A remote-site workers accommodation camp at dusk with exterior lighting on

Careers — SQS Group

Documented work, paid on time, certified before you travel

The group hires for two different worlds: offshore and remote-site catering and camp services under Allive Team Services, and construction, marine, supply and office work under Safari Qatar Services.

What is the same in both is the paperwork behind the job. A contract on the Ministry of Labour template, signed before you travel. Salary through a bank in Qatar under the Wage Protection System. Health insurance from a Qatar-licensed insurer, arranged and paid by the employer, before your first shift. Accommodation, meals and transport to the standards set in Ministerial Decision No. 18 of 2014. And certificates checked against the issuing body's own records before you are mobilised — not after you are turned back at the heliport.

We charge candidates nothing. Not for a job, not for a visa, not for a ticket, not for a medical, not for training, not for 'processing'. If someone asks you for money in our name, they do not work for us.

01 — Terms

What you get, in writing

These are contractual obligations under Qatari law, not benefits we award at our discretion. We list them because a worker deciding between offers deserves to compare the same fields.

  1. Paid through WPS, on the clock Salaries are paid through a financial institution in Qatar, in Qatari riyals, within seven days of the due date, and the monthly salary information file is lodged against the Ministry of Labour record. You can check that your wage was transferred; you are not asked to take our word for it.
  2. Insured before you start Basic health cover from a Qatar-licensed insurer as required by Law No. 22 of 2021, arranged and paid by the employer. The card is issued before your first shift, not after your first month.
  3. Accommodation, meals and transport Accommodation to the specifications in Ministerial Decision No. 18 of 2014, three meals a day or the statutory food allowance, and air-conditioned crew transport to and from site on your shift pattern.
  4. Certificates tracked, not chased T-BOSIET, H2S and breathing apparatus, food handler health certificate and licence, trade tickets, lifting and NDT certifications — all logged with expiry dates and renewed before they lapse, at company cost.
  5. Rosters that respect the field break Every offshore position is staffed with a named back-to-back and a standing relief pool, so the continuous-stay caps and the mandatory onshore rest period are met without anyone being asked to stay on past their rotation.
  6. A route to raise something A documented grievance route to a named person, worker representation arrangements in line with Qatari labour law, and access to the Ministry of Labour's own complaints channels. Using them is not held against you.

02 — Offshore

Offshore catering and hotel crew

These roles sit under Allive Team Services on platforms, jack-ups and accommodation barges. The catering department runs a 24-hour operation on a 28/28 rotation, with continuous-stay limits and a minimum onshore rest period between trips.

No one boards a Qatari installation on food hygiene credentials alone. Every person travelling offshore must hold valid T-BOSIET and an H2S/breathing apparatus certificate, plus a current fitness-to-work certificate; food-handling roles additionally require a Ministry of Public Health food handler health certificate, renewed annually, and a food handler licence. We verify all of these before mobilisation and renew them at company cost.

  • Camp Boss

Accountable for the entire catering and housekeeping operation on the installation: galley, messing, cabins, laundry, stores, hygiene records, galley equipment upkeep and the catering crew. Reports to the OIM on hotel matters.

  • Chief Cook

Leads the galley, plans and executes the menu cycle against forecast POB, controls cooking and chilling critical limits and holding temperatures, and keeps the daily food safety records.

  • Second Cook

Supports the chief cook across all four service periods, covers the night meal, and runs food preparation and portioning to the menu specification.

  • Night Baker

Twelve-hour night shift producing bread and bakery for the following day, and preparing and serving the night meal for the back shift.

  • Butcher

Receives, breaks down, portions and stores meat and poultry under halal segregation, with goods-in temperature checks and traceability to the supplier.

  • Steward / Executive Steward

Runs foodservice and housekeeping operations on shift, supervises the service team, controls cleaning schedules and consumables, and trains new crew on hygiene practice.

  • Messman

Mess room service, counter replenishment, allergen labelling at the point of service, table and dining-hall cleanliness across all service periods.

  • Galley Hand

Assists the day and night cooks, operates pot wash and dish wash, maintains galley cleanliness and supports deep-clean cycles.

  • Cabin / Accommodation Attendant

Cabin housekeeping, daily linen and towel changes, and cleaning of corridors, recreation rooms, offices and sanitary blocks to the deep-clean schedule.

  • Laundry Hand

Workwear and personal laundry, pressing, linen stock control and machine care in the accommodation module laundry.

  • Storekeeper

Receives provisions from the supply vessel, checks temperatures and documentation on landing, rotates stock through dry, chill and freeze stores, and prepares the backload of empty containers and segregated waste.

03 — Camps and canteens

Onshore camp, canteen and housekeeping roles

Camp and industrial catering work runs on a day-rate roster at drilling sites, remote locations, industrial cities and Doha premises. Food-handling roles require a Ministry of Public Health food handler health certificate and a food handler licence; camp roles require site induction and, in industrial cities, a gate pass and permit-to-work awareness.

  • Camp Cook

Menu cycle execution for the camp population, hot and cold holding control, stock rotation, and the daily hygiene and temperature records.

  • Canteen Supervisor

Runs the canteen shift, controls portioning and waste, manages the service team, and holds the food safety records for client and Ministry inspection.

  • Kitchen Steward

Pot and dish wash, chemical handling under the cleaning schedule, waste segregation, and support to deep-clean cycles of the kitchen and dining hall.

  • Housekeeping Attendant

Accommodation room cleaning, linen changes, and cleaning of ablution blocks, recreation rooms and common areas to the schedule.

  • Laundry Operator

Camp laundry operation, workwear and linen processing, machine maintenance and chemical stock control.

  • Camp Cleaner

Janitorial work across the camp, waste collection and segregation to designated skips, and support to disinfection programmes.

  • Storekeeper / Material Controller

Goods-in inspection and temperature checks, cold and dry store organisation, FIFO stock rotation, consumables issue and inventory records.

  • Hygiene and Food Safety Coordinator

Maintains the HACCP-based system on site: supplier and traceability records, CCP monitoring, cleaning verification, pest control liaison and audit readiness.

  • Pantry and Vending Attendant

Pantry and tea service for offices and control rooms, coffee-machine servicing and consumables, and vending replenishment.

  • Light Vehicle Driver

Crew and provisions transport with the correct Qatari licence class, vehicle checks, journey management and defensive driving compliance.

  • Camp Administrator

Occupancy and POB records, crew change coordination, accommodation allocation, certificate and document control, and monthly reporting to the client.

04 — Technical

Technical trades, construction and marine roles

These roles support SQS construction, hook-up, brownfield, shutdown and marine machinery scopes, and are also supplied to clients as contract manpower through Allive Team Services. Trade certificates are verified against the issuing body's records before deployment — a laminated copy is not accepted, from anyone.

  • Welding and fabrication

6G coded pipe welders qualified to ASME Section IX and AWS D1.1, TIG/GTAW and SMAW welders, pipe fabricators, structural fitters and plate welders. Welder qualification test records and the applicable welding procedure specification are checked before mobilisation.

  • Rigging, lifting and scaffolding

Riggers Level I to III, lifting supervisors, banksmen, rigging foremen, scaffolders, scaffolding supervisors and scaffolding inspectors, with third-party lifting certification current.

  • Mechanical, electrical and instrumentation

Mechanical and rotating-equipment technicians, valve technicians, maintenance planners, electricians and HV cable jointers, instrument and analyser technicians, metering technicians and HVAC technicians.

  • Plant and crane operators

Mobile and crawler crane operators, forklift and telehandler operators and heavy-equipment operators, holding the correct Qatari licence class and a certificate of competence from an approved third-party certifying authority.

  • Inspection and quality

QA/QC inspectors, welding inspectors holding CSWIP or AWS CWI, NDT technicians at ASNT Level I and II across radiographic, ultrasonic, magnetic particle and dye penetrant methods, and painting and coating inspectors.

  • HSE and permit-to-work

HSE officers and engineers holding NEBOSH or IOSH, safety supervisors, permit-to-work coordinators, confined-space and fire watches, and H2S and breathing-apparatus trained standby personnel.

  • Marine machinery

Diesel engine fitters, fuel injection and turbocharger technicians, gearbox and shaft alignment fitters, pump and mechanical seal technicians, and condition-monitoring technicians.

  • Process, shutdown and turnaround

Shutdown fitters, process pipe fitters, hydrojet technicians, blinding and de-blinding crews, on-site machining and flange-facing operators, and 24/7 shift crews for planned maintenance windows.

  • Semi-skilled and general labour

Masons, carpenters, steel fixers, painters, insulators, sandblasters, helpers, loaders and cleaning crews, supplied in supervised gangs where a managed crew is wanted rather than loose headcount.

05 — Doha office

Office and professional roles

Office roles are based at Al Shoumoukh Tower on C Ring Road. Most of them exist because the group runs its own government-transactions, payroll and compliance work rather than outsourcing it — which means these are operational jobs with deadlines set by ministries, not administrative support.

  • PRO / government transactions officer

Ministry, municipality and immigration filings under licensed activity 8299031: CR and licence renewals, establishment card, labour quota, work permits, QID issuance and renewal, attestation and notarisation. Metrash2, Single Window and Dhareeba experience expected.

  • Document controller

Transmittals, revision control, dossier compilation for mechanical completion and handover, and audit-ready filing of certificates, procedures and inspection records.

  • Planner (Primavera P6)

Baseline and progress schedules, mobilisation and shutdown windows, resource and manpower histograms, and progress reporting to the client's format.

  • Quantity surveyor / cost engineer

Bills of quantities, subcontract packages, variations and claims, valuations, and rate build-up for manpower and man-day pricing.

  • Procurement and expediting officer

Enquiry to purchase order, vendor evaluation, material certificate and traceability checks, expediting against the manufacturing schedule, and shipping release coordination.

  • Warehouse and material controller

Goods receipt and inspection, preservation, issue and reconciliation, and stock control across construction consumables and oilfield spare parts.

  • HR and payroll administrator

Wage Protection System processing and the monthly salary information file, contracts on the Ministry of Labour template, leave and end-of-service calculations, and personnel records.

  • Accountant

Ledgers, payables and receivables, tax card and return preparation with the appointed adviser, withholding tax remittance and project cost reporting.

  • Catering operations manager

Contract-level accountability for messing, housekeeping, stock and hygiene across sites: menu cycles and costing, audit programme, HACCP records, crew rosters and client reporting.

  • HSE adviser

Contract HSE plan development, job hazard analysis, inspections and audits, incident investigation, and the monthly HSE performance return in the client's format. NEBOSH Certificate or Diploma expected.

  • Business development

Tender identification, prequalification submissions, vendor portal registration, client liaison and proposal preparation across both group entities.

06 — Ethical recruitment

What we commit to, and the mechanism behind it

Fee-charging by agents is still common in this region, and a commitment without a mechanism behind it is worth nothing. So here is the mechanism, item by item. Article 33 of Labour Law No. 14 of 2004 prohibits a licensed recruitment office from collecting any recruitment fee or charge from a worker. We apply that across the whole chain, not only at our own desk.

  • Zero fees to workers — the Employer Pays Principle

You pay nothing for recruitment, deployment, visa, ticket, medical, training, uniform or 'processing'. Those costs are the employer's, in full, at every stage.

  • Signed no-fee declarations from every overseas agent

Any agent we work with signs a declaration that no fee or cost of any kind is charged to a worker in connection with our vacancies, and accepts that we may interview workers directly about what they paid.

  • One contract, on the Ministry-approved template

The job title, wage, hours, leave, accommodation, food and end-of-service terms are the ones on the contract you sign at the Qatar Visa Centre before you travel. There is no second contract on arrival, and terms are not reduced after you land.

  • No mobilisation before the medical

The GAMCA/Wafid pre-departure medical is completed and the result recorded before the visa file proceeds. We do not ask a worker to travel first and complete formalities later.

  • Your passport is yours

Passports are not retained by the company. Secure personal storage is available if you want it, and your document is returned on request, immediately, without a reason being asked.

  • Wage records you can verify independently

Wages are paid through a bank in Qatar under the Wage Protection System, so the transfer is on a record you can check yourself and that the Ministry of Labour can inspect.

  • If you paid a fee, tell us

Report it to info@sqs-qa.com with whatever evidence you have. We investigate every report of a fee charged in our name, we tell you in writing what we found, and we act against the agent responsible. Reporting does not affect your employment.

  • Mobility and exit are yours to use

The no-objection certificate requirement for changing employer was removed by law in 2020; statutory and contractual notice periods still apply. At the end of your contract we process notice, gratuity, leave encashment, the repatriation ticket, final settlement and visa cancellation as our administrative work, not yours.

07 — Applying

How to apply

Send your CV to info@sqs-qa.com with the subject line ROLE — NAME — NATIONALITY — CURRENT LOCATION. Attach your CV, your trade and safety certificates, and a copy of your passport or Qatar ID. There is no application fee at any stage, and no agent is authorised to collect one on our behalf.

There are two routes, and they run at very different speeds. If you are already in Qatar with valid certificates, mobilisation is measured in days. If you are applying from overseas, the visa cycle realistically runs four to eight weeks from offer letter to Qatar ID, and no one who tells you otherwise is being straight with you.

  1. Application and screening

We check the CV against the role, and check your certificates against the issuing body's records rather than accepting a copy. Expect a reply within five business days.

  2. Interview and trade test

An interview for every role. For welding, rigging, NDT and plant operation, a practical trade test at an accredited centre — in your country of residence for overseas applicants.

  3. Offer and contract

A written offer stating the job title, wage, working hours, rotation, leave, accommodation, food and transport arrangements — followed by the employment contract on the Ministry of Labour template.

  4. Medical, clearance and attestation

GAMCA/Wafid pre-departure medical, police clearance certificate, and attestation of educational and trade certificates. All at company cost.

  5. Qatar Visa Centre

Overseas applicants complete biometrics, the medical and contract signing at the Qatar Visa Centre in their country before travelling. You read and sign the contract before you fly, not on arrival.

  6. Travel and arrival

Ticket issued and paid by the employer, reception at Hamad International, and transfer to accommodation.

  7. Qatar ID, insurance and payroll

In-country medical and fingerprinting, QID issuance, health insurance registration, bank account opening and enrolment on the Wage Protection System.

  8. Induction and mobilisation

Site or offshore induction, gate pass, PPE issue, and — for offshore roles — verification that T-BOSIET, H2S/BA and fitness-to-work certificates are current before the flight is booked.

  9. Already in Qatar?

Say so in your first email and attach your QID, current certificates and your notice period. In-country transfer is a matter of days for a candidate with valid certificates, and we handle the permit and transfer file ourselves under our licensed government-transactions activity.

08 — Warning

Recruitment fraud: how to check that an offer is really ours

Fraudulent agents use the names of real Qatari companies to sell jobs that do not exist. It is one of the most common frauds in Gulf recruitment, and it works because the offer looks plausible: a company that genuinely exists, a real address copied from a website, a letter with a logo on it, and a demand for a 'visa fee', a 'processing fee' or a 'guarantee deposit' paid to a personal account.

We never charge a candidate for anything. If the offer in front of you involves paying money, it is not from us — whatever the letterhead says.

  • We will never ask you to pay — Not for a job, application, interview, visa, work permit, ticket, medical, insurance, uniform, PPE, training, certificate, accommodation deposit or 'processing'. There is no circumstance in which a genuine SQS Group offer requires a payment from you.
  • We will never ask for payment to a personal account — Not to a personal bank account, an exchange house, a mobile wallet, a cryptocurrency address or a courier. We do not collect cash from candidates in any country.
  • We do not make offers without an interview — Every role has an interview, and technical trades have a practical test. An 'offer letter' arriving without either is a fake.
  • Check the sender's address, character by character — Our correspondence comes from an address ending @sqs-qa.com. Free email accounts, and lookalike domains with an extra letter, a hyphen or a different ending, are not ours. Our website is https://www.sqs-qa.com.
  • Check us, not the letter — Call +974 4413 1497 and ask for human resources, or write to info@sqs-qa.com, before you act on any offer, pay anything or send any document. We will confirm in writing whether the person contacting you works for us. Our office is at Al Shoumoukh Tower, Tower B, 12th Floor, C Ring Road, Zone 23, Doha.
  • Verify the licence, not the promise — Recruitment into Qatar for a third party requires a Ministry of Labour licence. The Ministry publishes the list of licensed recruitment agencies, and a licence number can be verified directly with its Manpower Registration Department. Verify the number; do not accept a photocopy.
  • If you have been asked for money — Stop, and do not send anything further. Keep the evidence — messages, emails, receipts, names, phone numbers, account details. Report it to info@sqs-qa.com, report it to the Ministry of Labour, and report it to the authorities where you live. We cannot recover money paid to a third party, but we investigate every report made against our name and we will tell you in writing what we found.

Send your CV to the right desk

Offshore catering, camp services and manpower roles sit with Allive Team Services; construction, marine, supply and office roles sit with Safari Qatar Services. Send it to info@sqs-qa.com either way and we will route it.
